Mangrove Branch

This frame was made from a dead mangrove branch found near Port Canaveral, Fl.  The branch was cut in half to retain the irregular shape and the barnacles.  The wood & barnacles were coated with multiple coats of a clear acrylic resin to strengthen the wood and stabilize the barnacles.  The photo was taken at the locks of Port Canaveral, Fl.  The bird is a snowy egret.

Palm Tree Trunk

I'm not sure what this is, I think it is a root from some type of a palm plant.  It is fibrous like a palm trunk.  I was intrgued to see if I could make into a frame.  The frame is about 15 inches on each side.  The photo is an aquatic plant taken at a farm pond near Ocala, Fl.  The plant's common name is a buttonbush(cephalanthus occidentalis).  The photo shows the various stages of seed dispuresment.
